Henry Cavill Stars in Global Campaign for Longines Spirit Zulu Time 1925

Time connects continents, links hearts across miles, and quietly ticks away in the background as history unfolds. Longines, the Swiss watchmaker with a knack for precision and elegance, has been measuring time in style for nearly two centuries. Now, the brand celebrates one of its most groundbreaking achievements – its first dual time zone wristwatch from 1925 – with the release of a centennial tribute: the Longines Spirit Zulu Time 1925.

Long before GPS and world clocks, Longines was already thinking globally. Back in 1908, the brand created its famed “Turkish Watches,” dual-time pocket watches that let the Ottoman Empire track Turkish and Western time at once. A patent followed in 1911, setting the tone for what would become a specialty for the brand: crafting timepieces that could handle life across time zones.

Fast forward to 1925. Longines introduced the world’s first dual time zone wristwatch, the Zulu Time. Its dial proudly featured the maritime flag for the letter “Z,” shorthand for Zulu Time – what aviators and navigators know today as UTC+0, or Greenwich Mean Time. No more AM/PM confusion. Just clarity, coordination, and timeless cool.
