Tiffany & Co.: the precious hour of a jeweller-watchmaker
Journal du Luxe
At Tiffany, time doesn't pass, it becomes embodied. In the hushed world of this New York house, each piece of jewelry tells a story, and each watch becomes a signature. Watchmaking according to Tiffany & Co. doesn't chase trends: it follows a clear line, stretched between Broadway and Geneva, driven by nearly two centuries of refined inventiveness.
The adventure began in 1847. Charles Lewis Tiffany, then based on Broadway, sold clocks from Europe and across the Atlantic. But it was in 1851 that a founding moment sealed the watchmaking vocation of the house: an alliance concluded by a handshake with the Patek Philippe manufacturer . A simple, but historic agreement, which made Tiffany one of the first official distributors of the Swiss brand in the United States . At the time, well before the rise of the wristwatch, the New York house was already becoming a reference.
